Nature photography is as much about opportunity as it is capability. In this case, I happened to come across an unusual situation which I haven't seen the likes of since. While walking a trail at Brazos Bend State Park, I saw this bird hanging in the crook of a tree. The tree's roots are on the edge of the trail and this slough, with its branches hanging out over the water and mud. My best guess is that this predatory fowl flew down in pursuit of prey and ended up hanging himself in this branch.
